Filter Bar

The Filter Bar is collection of filters used to adjust the display of data, usually in a table or cards. A Filter Bar is best used whenever a small set of filters will be commonly used. Filter Bars are used in contrast to an Adjustment Bar, which uses filters, but hides them away for tidiness. A table should not use an Adjustment Bar and a Filter Bar. Only one should be used. Optionally, the Filter Bar can have an option to apply a default set of filters whenever the user views the page.

Spacious Filter Bars

Sometimes Filter Bars only include a few key filters. In these cases, be sure the buttons or button groups include the button label for maximum clarity. spacious filter bar

Packed Filter Bars

When Filter Bars are packed with many filters, it's okay to use icon-only versions of buttons. This is not preferred, but is acceptable in these cases. packed-filter-bar
